This episode of Carnage has Scotty continuing on with our little TA Torana, as he works towards getting it back together and working as a car again.

In the last couple of episodes, Scotty broke out our brand new Kemppi welding gear to fix a few rust issues we had in the car. With that sorted, this week’s edition sees him turn his attention to the engine.

The aim was pretty simple, get the 1300cc four cylinder engine running, which it has never done since we purchased the car in the height of Covid-19. We recently acquired a very rusty but complete four-door TA Torana to help get this one back together, because while it may look like a goer at first glance, it’s missing all the wiring, interior, glass and even steering column.

Scotty began by putting the starter motor back in, hooking up an ignition system with leads and a fresh coil, and sprayed some Start Ya Bastard down the carby, and she did give a cough of life!

He followed that up by running a fuel supply from a jerry can, and low and behold she was running, and running pretty bloody well.

Now as you can imagine, we don’t have any long term plans to keep this engine in the car. However, it would be great to get this thing driving under its own power and potentially registered with this engine before we decide what to do with it next.

So, crack a coldie, and watch Scotty show you how to get any old engine running in your old car by going back to basics!
