Video: Making our Torana parts car run!

In this episode of Carnage, Scotty gets the four-pot running in our spare TA Torana – for science!

In this week’s episode of Carnage, Scotty attempts to get our spare-parts TA Torana sedan running to see how healthy its little four-pot is.

If you missed it, we purchased this white sedan earlier in the year as a parts car for our black, two-door TA Torana rolling shell. Unlike the black coupe, this more-door is as rusty as the Titanic, so it’s only good for parts. But as it’s a complete car, it’s just what we need!

To see if its engine is a goer, Scotty transferred some of the new ignition parts and starter motor from the black coupe, which he’d got running in a recent episode.

The goal here is to find out which car has the better engine, and we’ll use that one in the black coupe to get it roadworthy and registered.

The first try was a bit of a bust, but after some investigation, Scotty found a set of dodgy points was to blame. With that sorted, she gave a few decent coughs with some Start Ya Bastard, and once the carby took on fuel, she was a runner!

We were amazed it idled so easily, and she’s much smoother and quieter than the mill in the black coupe. So, we’ll likely do the old switcheroo, and you’ll see that in future episodes of Carnage.
