We’ve got an early Christmas present for you Carnage lovers out there, as we get treated to another fabrication and engineering masterclass in this episode.

If you’ve been watching recent instalments, you would’ve seen our Grimace VS Commodore ute at MPW Performance & Race Fab for some full-on fabrication in the rear end of the beast.

This episode sees our attention turn to the front, as MPW wizard Ayvon ‘Abe’ McLeod gets to work sorting our turbo positioning and intercooler piping. Just like the rear end, Abe 3D scanned the car, and then used CAD software to map out intercooler placement, mounts and routing for the piping.

Doing it this way allows near-on millimetre precision, which means we could fit the biggest intercooler possible without cutting half the car up.

VPW Australia’s Proflow catalogue kitted us out with all the hardware we needed for tohe job, starting with a five inch blank intercooler core. We went for a blank one as it allowed Abe to CAD design and build end tanks suitable to the VS. Essentially building the intercooler around the car, not the other way around.

It’s much the same story for the exhaust. Proflow supplied the 3.5-inch piping and V-band clamps, and the MPW boys knocked it out of the park putting it together.

This is the last episode on the ute for 2023, as we gear up for a short break over Christmas before getting the 1UZ Lexcen wagon to Street Machine Summernats 36.
