If you’re a Mopar nut, odds are you’ve been either been Chryslers on the Murray or it is high on your bucket list. It’s an annual showcase where Australia’s best Mopars descend upon the Albury-Wodonga on the Vic/NSW border for a weekend of cruising, track driving and show-and-shine action.

As a self-confessed Mopar tragic, Scotty has done the event many times over the years. This time, he decided it was the perfect excuse to get Dad’s Ute – his 318-powered VE Valiant – out of the shed for a weekend of fun.

Along for the ride was reformed Mopar nut and Magna connoisseur, Paul ‘Gus’ Cronin. Scotty picked up Gus from the Melbourne Airport, and then made the three-hour drive north.

Day one took place at the TAFE driving training facility, allowing all the cars to let rip without worry on the twisty track. Due to his late entry, Scotty didn’t get to have a go on the track, but enjoyed checking out all the mint metal on show.

The rest of the weekend included show-and-shines, swap-meets and a cruise to the Ettamogah Pub. The VE ran flawlessly, right up until it started coughing and flooding itself during a cruise session on Saturday night.

After Scotty and Gus took the Edelbrock carby off nearly a dozen times chasing the issue, it turned out out one of the floats had a hole in it. That was causing it to fill with fuel and sink, explaining the flooding problem.

Scotty bludged a carby from his mate Rod Taylor, and willed the Valiant back home to Melbourne. If you’re craving a road trip then this video is for you, so crack a coldie and enjoy!
