At the time of this story going live, there’s just five days left until we’ll be underway for day one of Drag Challenge 2024 at Calder Park on Wednesday, 30 October.
While our 1100rwhp, twin turbo, Dart 427ci LS Drag Challenge ute is tuned and race tested, Scotty still had a few jobs to iron out before it’s ready for 1300km+ of drag and drive.

The first was the Haltech Linear Position Sensor for the rear shocks. The sensor will allow us to track the shock travel during a pass, which’ll be essential data to help Scotty and Adam Rogash fine tune the set up over time.
Grimace also needed a neutral safety switch, both for peace of mind and to pass the scrutineering requirements. The lads at Maxx Performance helped Scotty out with a neat sensor, which is controlled with the Haltech Nexus R5.

To get Grimace road ready, another job was making it able to drink normal, unleaded pump fuel. Luckily, our sponsors Proflow make a neat flex fuel sensor adaptor for just such a task, so Scotty installed it and wired it into the Haltech.

The last job was sorting rubber for the road. While we already have a set of rear hoops to replace our drag radials on the road, Scotty didn’t want to risk our expensive Mickey Thompson front runner rubber on Victoria’s nasty pot holes.
We got VPW Australia to send out a pair of 15 inch Street Pro alloys to take some generic road rubber, which’ll keep the high speed front runners safe for track use.

Enjoy the episode below, and next week Carnage will be replaced by daily Drag Challenge upload videos. If you want to come see Grimace race in the metal, head out to one of the tracks on 30 October to 3 November where we’ll be racing at Calder Park, Atlantic Oils Sunset Strip, Dragway at the Bend and Heathcote Park Raceway, You can find info and grab tickets here.
