This episode of Carnage sees us back at Heathcote Park Raceway, as Scotty goes racing in our 1100rwhp VS ute!

Last time out, the ute ran a super-quick 8.87@156mph on its first full pass. We were amazed, and because it had handicaps like a loose converter on that occasion, a target of an 8.50 seemed more than achievable at our next track date. And just the target to run in the Pro Street Radials 8.5 Blown index class at Drag Challenge.

In last week’s episode, the car was at MPW Performance & Race Fab, where Adam Rogash and Ayvon McLeod mounted the parachute and made a one-off undertray for the car. Scotty threw in a new converter from AllFast in Western Australia, which should suit the ute’s combo a bit better, and then it was time to go racing again.

This test day at Heathcote also doubled as a USA versus Australia Muscle Car Day, with DYO racing. The testing beforehand gave Scotty a chance to shake down the ute, and on the first pass, it ran 8.94@160mph.

The next pass was a less-than-ideal 9.02@160mph, as the serpentine belt for the accessories came off.

Then eliminations for the DYO racing started. Despite the issues, Scotty beat two cars to make it to the final, which was rad! He did come up against Pat Caruso’s Gemini; Pat’s a well-seasoned racer, and he ended up taking the win.

Scotty still nabbed a trophy, though, taking home the Fastest MPH award for his run of 164mph.

With the competition side of things dealt with and life still left in the day, Scotty went out for one last run. It turned out to be a big PB for the ute, but to find out by how much, you’ll have to watch the episode below. Enjoy and thanks to Axel Cox for the photos.
