There’s nothing better than some Aussie ingenuity shining on the world stage, and that’s exactly what TurboSmart have been doing for the last 25 years.

They’ve been designing, testing and most importantly manufacturing world-leading performance parts from their Sydney factory that have made shockwaves all over the world, so when SM Editor Andrew Broadley was slipped an invitation to come and check out their factory he jumped at the chance.

The timing of the tour couldn’t have been better, as TurboSmart had just come from a slate of wins at the SEMA Show in the US, and the exact product in question was heading out the door for the very first time.

That groundbreaking piece of engineering was TurboSmart’s Electronic StraightGate50, the world’s first electronic butterfly straight gate. At SEMA, it won both Best Performance and Racing Product and Best Engineered Product. It wasn’t the first time TurboSmart had come out top trumps at SEMA new products either, and every time they do, it shows just how capable the Australian aftermarket industry really is.

As part of the tour we got to see the entire process, from bare blocks of metal right through to Broads having a crack at assembling his own fuel pressure regulator. So popular is TurboSmart’s gear that their big machinery will often run 24 hours a day, seven days a week to keep up with demand.

Make sure you check out the video above to see the full tour for yourself, and for all your performance parts needs head to turbosmart.com to check out their full range of products.
