Ah Turbo Taxi, the car that kick started Carnage has gone from the budget weapon that could, to the killer of all of Melbourne’s spare LPG Barras.
The last time Scotty attempted racing the Taxi was in November last year, and on its first and only run down the strip with a new engine, it overboosted, torching the head and killing many things.

He pulled the engine in February this year, but then the old yellow slug had to sit around and wait its turn while he got our 1100rwhp, eight second Grimace VS ute ready to take on Drag Challenge.
However, right before we left for Drag Challenge, he threw together another long block Barra for the Taxi. The latest engine uses aftermarket rods, second hand Ford turbo pistons, a DIY bore hone and all the spare parts we had laying around.

It’ll be the last attempt at getting a 10 second pass out of this car on the current LPG setup, because then it’ll go on ethanol whether it kills this engine or runs a 10 first. Either way, this is the last gasp effort for the BBQ fuel.
In this episode, Scotty dresses the engine, drops it into the Taxi and bolts the Preston Automatics-built BTR four speed auto up behind it. Unfortunately without a radiator on hand and a flat battery, Scotty didn’t quite manage to get it started before we had to get this video edited and ready to drop for you guys this morning.
