It’s time for another look at Grays’ weekly classic car auctions, and there’s something for just about everyone in this week’s crop.
All the cars are live now, with bidding on most lots ending on 18 March, Tuesday evening. You can view all the lots up for auction this week here.
Our first pick will get the 80s Ford lovers excited: a sweet1981 XD Fairmont Ghia ESP with a 351 and manual ’box! Check out the listing here.

Another pick that took our fancy is this ’71 HG Kingswood wagon – with surfboard! It may look a little crusty and mismatched at first, but the interior is actually in pretty decent shape. With all the high-end restos of Holdens of this era being hidden away these days, it’s refreshing to see an HG you wouldn’t be scared to take down to the beach, just like they did back in the day! The reserve has already been surpassed at $10K, so see it here.

Our next pick is far more brutish than the first two: an XA Fairmont hardtop built to take on Targa Tasmania. Under those big hips is a full-floater nine-inch, which is needed to take the grunt from the 400rwhp, 363ci stroker mill. If you’re a fan of sticking classic Aussie metal around corners in anger, this one is worth a look – which you can do right here.

The polar opposite of a corner-carving Falcon would have to be this 1984 Ford LTD, but that doesn’t mean she’s a slouch. She’s had a turbo Barra mill swapped in, which’d be plenty to get the big barge moving. There’s no word on how much power is on tap, and despite the FG Falcon shifter, the listing indicates the car runs a four-speed auto, which would most likely be a good ol’ BTR. See more of the car here.

Switching gears from all the Australian metal, this 1972 Chevy Chevelle isn’t something you see all that often on this side of the pond. It’s still left-hook, and the seller has provided plenty of paperwork for recent work done to get this thing ready for the road, so their list of pain is your gain. It’s running a 350 small-block for now, but really, these engine bays look best with a full-fat 454 stuffed between those towers. Check it out here.

Hot Sigma! We can’t remember the last time we saw a 1984 Mitsubishi Sigma GSR. While the GSR pack was largely cosmetic, the 15-inch ‘Pepperpot’ wheels, five-speed manual and the torquey Astron four-pot made it one hot little package for a small sedan back in the day. It’s up with no reserve and sitting at just over $700 as we type, so it could be a cheeky way into a budget classic. See it here.

Here’s one for the AU lovers out there, a Series III XR8 220 with a manual gearbox. It’s a tidy-looking example for the 220,000km it’s travelled so far, and the higher-output 220kW engine would make it a solid combo with the manual. It’s also up with no reserve, bidding at a paltry $5300 as we type – so if you’re keen, jump on it! See it here.

If you or your young ’uns watched the live-action Transformers movies, then to you this 2009 Chevy Camaro is a real-life Bumblebee. For those in the know, however, these Camaros are really VE SS Commodores in a sleeker body, sharing the same Zeta platform and LS driveline. This example has already been converted to right-hook, and with just 35,000km showing, it’d be perfect for those wanting a V8 cruiser that differs to the norm. See it here.
