PROJECT Monaro has been with us for several months now, with Holden taking a seasoned 2004 CV8 Monaro and rebuilding it with 2019 looks and performance.
This fourth episode sees the project enter its final stages, as all the parts that have been sent around the country make their way back down to Melbourne for the reassembly.

The body and paint gets finished off by B&A Motor Body Repairs, using a bunch of Holden NOS parts along with the 3D printed one-off lips and spoilers the Holden designers dreamed up for the project. While the original Phantom Black colour was a pretty schmick shade for the Monaro, it wasn’t quite special enough for this one-off project. Instead, a satin blue was purpose-mixed specifically for the car, and it’s a colour that really has to be appreciated in person for full effect.
The freshly rebuilt LS1 donk from Maurice Fabietti was slotted back in, along with a completely refreshed 4L60E ’box and diff. The custom-tuned suspension from Triple Eight Race Engineering also gets bolted into the car, along with the meaty set of four-piston AP Racing anchors.

The final touches on the killer interior are also put together, including a tailored set of gauges. It just goes to show the work that has gone into this build; the attention to detail is more than just skin-deep.
The next episode is the all-important reveal. Lowndesy gets to lay eyes on the car for the first time in all its glory, before he and lead engineer Rob Trubiani take the Monaro for its first drive in anger around Holden’s Lang Lang Proving Ground.
