OVER the past six months we’ve been following the build of Nulon Australia’s XY Falcon GT replica giveaway car. It started off as a green Falcon 500 six-cylinder grandpa-spec streeter, and since then we’ve seen it undergo a transformation into a true street machine.
The car was stripped down and sand-blasted before all the nasty hidden-away rust was removed and the body repaired. The XY then received its beautiful Track Red paint. While that was happening, the team at BK Race Engines screwed together one of their tough 650hp 408ci Cleveland motors, to be backed by a four-speed manual ’box. To bring the handling up to scratch, the guys also fitted an RRS front end with rack-and-pinion steering and big meaty brakes.
Inside, the car scored a full GT-style trim to match the red with black-striped exterior. The finished product was a tough, well-done street car – plenty quick enough, capable of laying a fat skid, and a real head-turner. Whoever won the car was going to love it.
Well, now we can officially say that we have a winner! Out of the 55,000 people that entered the draw to win Nulon’s Project XY, Neil Horsley’s name was drawn as the lucky winner of the XY Falcon GT replica. Congratulations Neil, enjoy the car.
