RED CENTRENATS 2016 BURNOUT MASTERS FINAL – VIDEO

Highlights and results from the smokey Red CentreNATS burnout masters final

IT was a killer field of tyre frying machinery at the Red CentreNATS with 20 of the best vying for the $10,000 purse, but the walls and mechanical gremlins wreaked havoc on the field during qualifying and the finals.

The original 20 car field was pared down to the 10 best during Saturday night’s Burnout Masters qualifying and then the top three from the Burnout Championship comp were added to make it a baker’s dozen for the final. Those 13 cars went for broke on Sunday afternoon in front of a packed Alice Springs crowd.

The war of attrition continued through to the finals with last year’s winner FEAR coming to such a sudden stop that it can only spell mechanical disaster, and KILLA-B shredding a blower belt. In the end there was just 2.5points separating the top three spots, but it was Darran Williams and DIESEL who took the big cheque home. Victorian Rick Fuller with LSONE scored second prize and Andrew Pool from North Queensland came third driving his IBLOWN Commodore.

Darran and Rick will join the Burnout Masters in early January next year for the ultimate smoke show at Summernats 30. Summernats is only four months away – the countdown starts now!
