Robert Cottrell in the 4DH8RS is your 2026 Castlemaine Rod Shop Pro Burnout series winner for Red CentreNATS 12, piloting the XD Falcon to a $30,000 top prize from the $50,000 total money on offer for the weekend.

Unlike the cool conditions we enjoyed for Friday night’s qualifying runs, the searing sun of Alice Springs was belting down as the top 10 for both the Open and Pro Burnout class took to the pad to duke it out for glory.

Before them, there was also the Redemption Round for the Open and Pro burnout classes, giving those who missed out on a spot in the top 10 finalists one last chance to place on the honour roll.

Dan Brearly in the NO LUBE VY Clubsport used the Pro class Redemption Round to good effect, winning a spot to the Wildcard Shootout for Street Machine Summernats 39 in January.

The top 10 finalists for the Pro Burnout class got off to a wild start, Marty Newton in the KLAAS Mitsubishi Triton slapping the side of ute against the wall at the exit schute after a fast tip in at the beginning of his run.

He was uninjured, and was allowed to send his tyres to tread cemetery after being given the all clear.

There was several instances of oil downs, and current Castlemaine Rod Shop Pro Burnout series champion Chris Orchard’s run in BALLISTIC also came to a sudden hault, his VL coughing to a stop the resulted in a minor engine bay fire and push off the pad.

With intermittent breeze, with smoke haze was heavy at times was really challenging drivers on the tight pad. Many of the top runners re-used the entry shoot in the pursuit of more points, utilising as much of the pad as they could find spare.
