LATE last August, the Street Machine team headed out with a few mates on an epic road trip from Melbourne to Alice Springs, for the very first Red CentreNATS. It was a three-day trip, stopping off at Port Augusta and Coober Pedy on the way. We made it to the event, participated in just about everything on offer and headed home again. All up, that was a total of 4700km on the road, and we had a ball. The roads were good, the landscape was breathtaking and there was plenty of fuel and accommodation along the way.

We’ll be doing it again this year, and we’re hoping to take our time and enjoy some more tourist fun along the way – Uluru being high on the list.

We’d love to know who else has a road trip planned – where you are coming from, what car you’ll be in and what you’re planning to see on the way. Who knows, maybe one of the extended Street Machine family can join you for a convoy. Comment below or drop us a line at

  • Just wondering what days people will be heading through Pt Agusta? I can't head off from Whyalla till Thursday morning And am looking for cars to cruise with.
  • Hi Telfo, I'm going to the red centre nats from Sydney via Port Pirie in a '71 Ford LTD 2 door hardtop (460, c6, 9" ), probably mix it up between motels and sleeping under the stars. Looking forward to an adventure, a convoy would be cool.
