When Scotty first started his quest of taking a standard, V6 VS ute and turning it into an 8.50 car for Drag Challenge, he intended for it to only take a few months.
12 months later, and the car is nearly done. As with all builds it has escalated dramatically, and the 427ci, Dart LS Next with twin Pulsar turbos will likely see it become a 1500hp+, 7.50 car!
Scotty has done the hard yards in the workshop over the last couple of months, getting this thing plumbed and buttoned up. With those jobs ticked off, this episode finds it back at MPW Performance & Race Fab for some final fabrication.

Those jobs included making a new intake pipe, screamer pipes, welding bungs for the 02 sensors and a bunch of other more small tasks.
To control boost, we went to our mates at TurboSmart. They hooked us up with their industry leading gear including a pair of 50mm ProGate wastegates, two Race Port BOVs and their new OPR oil pressure reg. The OPR controls oil pressure to the turbos, ensuring they get the right amount of oil without overpowering them.

Scotty also sorted routing our Proflow steam port kit, and the Haltech EGT sensors and boost controller.
In the next episode the ute will hit the dyno with Adam Rogash at MPW, where we’ll see it make some big numbers. Until then, enjoy this week’s episode below:
