Supermang is back again on your screens for this week’s episode of Carnage, as Scotty troubleshoots a big clearance issue we had in the last VN episode with its new stroker engine.
The issue was the conrod bolt hitting the camshaft, as the MACE Engineering 606-spec cam was too big for the extra rotational space the 4.2-litre stroker bottom end now has to travel.

After a bit of back and forth with MACE (who were super helpful), they had Crow Cams take a MACE 605-spec camshaft and reduce the base circle. This would give is just the morsel of clearance Scotty needed, without losing the duration and lift specs we’re chasing from an aftermarket stick.
Clearance with the new cam was bloody tight, but clearance is clearance. The 605 cam needed different length pushrods, and while Scotty was measuring those, he found a perfect example to justify why he does not soak his lifters in oil before assembling an engine. You can watch the video below to see that.

With the clearance issue finally dialed, Scotty threw the rest of the long block L67 back together to get it ready to stab into Supermang. Next week we’ll do just that, before hitting the dyno to find out if there really is no replacement for displacement. See you then!
