In this episode of Carnage, we’re back in the workshop as Scotty continues the process of getting our Supermang VN Berlina up and running with its new 4.2-litre stroked V6 engine.

Last time Supermang was on your screens, Scotty had the engine back together and had got it in the car. He’d planned on thrashing to get it to Optima Ultimate Street Car 2025 at Calder Park two weeks ago, but sadly, he got quite ill the week before the event, so that was the end of that. He’s back in the saddle this week though and ready to kick on with the VN!
Before we get to that though, we need to welcome Kemppi as a new sponsor to Carnage!

Kemppi is a Finnish welding equipment company that’s been around for 75 years and makes some of the best welders on the market, and they’ve given Scotty two of their new 15-amp welders – one MIG and one TIG – to play with.

Scotty details all the cool stuff about these welders in the video below, showing how versatile and simple they are to use. They’re fully automatic, with all of the settings easily adjusted on a digital screen. They even come with a Bluetooth pedal with 50 metres of range!
Now, back to the VN. While rotating the engine by hand to bolt it to the converter, Scotty noticed that something inside the stroker V6 was stopping it from spinning freely.

There are plenty of possible reasons for that, so the engine had to come back out to properly diagnose the issue. As Scotty slowly pulled the mill apart, his frustration grew, as the cause continued to elude him.
Being a stroker donk, an obvious culprit might be sump clearance to the crank; surprisingly, that wasn’t the case, and neither was piston-to-valve clearance. After lots of searching, Scotty finally discovered that a clearance issue to the camshaft was causing the drama.

Watch the process in the latest episode below, and thanks again to Kemppi for coming onboard, as well as VPW Australia for their ongoing support.
