With its prodigious stance, blown 604ci Hemi, and 20x20in rear wheels wearing gargantuan 33x22R20 tyres, Joe Bauer’s utterly awesome ’68 Dodge Charger blew our minds at Street Machine Summernats 36, and we’re stoked to have it grace the cover of the March 2024 issue of Street Machine.

At the polar opposite end of the cubic-inch spectrum, you’ll find one of the other new cars from Summernats 36 – James Bullions’s stunning Mazda R100. It’s an exercise in cool stance and gorgeous fabrication with taste to boot!

Exquisitely styled after taildragger hot rods usually built from larger American cars, Al and Rhonda Magritzer’s Morris Minor is innovative, classy and beautifully restrained.

Then there’s Ashley Bell’s striking Wild Plum XA Fairmont, which pairs 70s coolness with elite hall-level mods and finish. Brodie Ward’s VL is another ’Nats attendee, known for smashing tyres on Skid Row care of its blown LS combo. Beyond that, it’s a super-neat car everywhere you look.

Chris Wright is no stranger to SM, and his fresh XT streeter is of the toughness we expect from the Mildura bloke. Bought as a half-done project, it pairs a tough aspo driveline with factory vibes.

On the note of half-finished stunners, check out a ballistic Noonan-powered HT Monaro in the works at ProFlo Performance! It’ll be a properly bonkers sight at Summernats 37.

Arby gives us the low-down on a gorgeous VS Commodore tipped to run seven-second ETs, and we check out Dale Gridley’s latest: a Gen III Hemi stroker-powered AP5 rescued from rural Queensland, still clad in its original finish!

The WA crew had a ball at Motorvation 38, with plenty of coverage inside; there’s also a helpful guide from Simo on breakdown tips and tricks, a Drag Challenge-proven HQ Tonner, and heaps more!
