THE Street Machine Drag Challenge kicks off this Friday at Calder Park! We’ve got 50 cars signed up for this year’s event, including Adam Rogash from MPW Performance, who’s bringing the NOSHOW Clubsport complete with 1600hp worth of twin-turbo LS; Harry Haig in POP666; and Louis Younis in the PHAATT Torana. We’ll be racing at five drag strips over five days and covering around 1300km on the street. For the full itinerary, check out our Spectator Guide by clicking here. After we tear up Calder Park on Friday for Drag Challenge, the Melbourne Jamboree kicks off on Saturday. This should be an epic event with drag racing, drifting, a show ’n’ shine, dyno exhibition and plenty more! Click here for the full details.
The Temora 1000 is also happening on Saturday in NSW. This event is a high-speed 1000-metre runway-style race, open to all cars and held at the Temora Aviation Museum. There will be some pretty wild rides rocking up, so whether you’re driving or spectating it should be an exciting day out. It’ll cost $20 for adults to spectate and $10 for kids under 18.
Got an HK, HT or HG Holden and live in Queensland? Why not get along to the HK-T-G Drag Day at Willowbank Raceway on Saturday afternoon. Gates will open at 2pm with racing until 4pm; then the usual test-and-tune sessions will begin and anyone can hit the strip.
The Bunbury Car & Bike Show is on Sunday in Western Australia, and is open to pretty much anything with an engine. Cars and bikes from all genres will be on display for the public and judged as part of a show ’n’ shine event. It’ll cost $10 to enter your car for display or the same amount just to spectate, with all proceeds going towards the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
As always, you’ll find a massive car meet at the Eastlink Outbound BP service station in Melbourne, hosted by Saturday Night Live. There’s always a great variety of cars and plenty of tough old-school muscle on show. The action kicks off at around 5pm.
There are also a couple of test ’n’ tune events happening around the traps, with Heathcote open on Sunday from 11am and Willowbank on Saturday from 4pm. Willowbank will also be open on Sunday for ANDRA licence holders to test out their machinery.
