DAVE Cufone ended up with his ’71 Chevelle burnout car kind of by accident. He bought it as a container-filler after picking up a few Camaros from the States and didn’t even know what a Chevelle was at the time! After clapping eyes on the car though he liked what he saw and built it into a dedicated burnout beast. It’s been through various engine combos over the four years Dave has been skidding the car and currently runs a 510-cube blown and injected big-block making around 1300hp.
He’s had a pretty rough year so far with the car, catching fire at Summernats, and breaking his tailshaft and gearbox twice at his next two shows. We caught up with Dave at Gazzanats Darwin where the Chevelle was on song and came away with the burnout comp win.
