In the previous episode of Carnage, Scotty brought our ‘Supermang’ VN Berlina back after a long hiatus to get it ready for a brand-new engine, a 4.2-litre stroker L67 V6!

He started by pulling out the VN’s trusty old VX 3.8-litre supercharged L67, as we needed the heads, manifold, blower, accessories and pretty much everything else off it to complete the new stroker donk.

In this episode, Scotty pulls down the 3.8-litre mill to scrounge those parts. Given it was a perfectly fine runner before it was taken out, this was one of the few times in Carnage history that we’ve torn down an engine without finding evidence of the show’s namesake.

But don’t worry, there was still engine carnage to come! When Scotty tried to pull the screws out for the backing plate on the oil pump, one screw was so stubborn it wouldn’t budge.

Sadly, he encountered the same problem when he tried to take the backing plate off a spare front cover and oil pump we had. One snapped Torx bit, a wounded finger and a few choice words later, Scotty did finally get a breakthrough.

Due to that stuff-around, we ran short of time to make any real progress on the engine before getting this episode out to you. Scotty will toil away on the stroker V6 in the background, and next week, we will likely see Turbo Taxi return as it gets prepared for the Optima Ultimate Street Car event at Calder Park Raceway on 15 February.
