We’ve put plenty of V8 HK-T-G Holdens on the cover of our bible before, but never one that has sucked down diesel! Check out our video feature on the car and the photoshoot here:
Now, with diesel prices the way they are, 2026 may not be the ideal time to start the diesel-powered street machine revolution, but it’s happening anyway! As demonstrated not only by Peter’s wagon, but also Jay Duca’s Torana and Anna Povey’s VL wagon.

Peter Liversidge’s HG wagon not only boasts Elite Top 20 silverware after a grand unveiling at Street Machine Summernats 38, but it also harbours a 6.6-litre Duramax diesel V8 under all that chocolate-coloured piping. Has there ever been a fancier way to roll coal?

With new cars all looking as toaster-like as the next, it’s refreshing to lay eyes on whacky machines like Trev Halstead’s 1951 Studebaker Starlite Coupe. Still rocking Stude power, it was chopped to perfection to become the jewel in the New Zealander’s extensive collection.

Danny Hoy’s FE wagon blew our minds at Summernats 38, and this month’s feature story on the car is definitely worth a read. While it may still look as Holden intended in 1956, the car’s driveability has been improved out of sight thanks to a complete suspension and driveline transplant based around modern Commodore architecture.

Remember when Indy Car came to Australia? Well, this EB Falcon does, because it was the very car setting the pace at the front of the field. Revived in the hands of Thomas McMillan, the XR8 boasts plenty of SVO bits, so she’s more than just lights and stickers!

On the events side of things, we head to sunny Florida for the very first Summernats USA. Cleetus McFarland’s Freedom Factory saw plenty of tyres destroyed and smiles had as the Yanks got a taste of our Aussie Summernats formula, featuring drags, cruising, show ’n’ shine, and of course, burnouts!

Back on our shores, we do a whip around the grounds as summer comes to a close, soaking up Mopar heaven at Chryslers on the Murray, heading south to a fresh venue for Showcars Melbourne, and checking out the car-mad femmes of Melbourne at the Northern Gal GirlPower Show.

For this month’s tech feature, we dive deep into the must-know info on aftermarket crankshafts, with thanks to Precision International.

We’ve all heard the #Barratheworld mantra for the longest time, but who is the undisputed leader of the pack? That’d be Anthony Meskos’s KNGFPV F6 FG ute, having run a 7.32@195mph! The best bit? The 2500hp ute isn’t done yet, with sixes not yet ruled out of the equation.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! We’ve also got a class-winning VB Commodore from Drag Challenge; Young Gun Cetin Dogan’s limited-edition VL Commodore; a ProFlo Performance-built, 632-cube blown fatty as our Mill of the Month; all the latest news – including the full rundown of Drag Challenge 2026 – and loads more!
It’s all in the May issue of Street Machine, so grab your copy now!
