Video: Preparing our 1100hp ute for Drag Challenge!

With just under two weeks until Drag Challenge, Scotty gets serious about preparing our twin-turbo ute

There’s just under two weeks to go until we kick off Drag Challenge 2024, with racing getting underway on Wednesday 30 October at Calder Park Raceway.

We’ll cross the length of Victoria and also head into South Australia during the five-day campaign, with the circus moving through Sunset Strip in Mildura, Dragway at The Bend in SA, Heathcote Park Raceway, and then back to Calder Park for the finale on Sunday 3 November.

That means at least 1300km of road will be covered over five days. While we know that the Carnage VS ute makes over 1100hp at the hubs and has run a PB of 8.52@164mph, we don’t know whether it can handle the on-street punishment.

As such, this episode of Carnage focuses on making sure the ute we call Grimace is fully street-worthy and up to the task. One aspect of that was sorting out all the inputs in the Haltech iC-7 dash for indicators, high/low-beam headlights and speedo.

Scotty sorted most of it before driving the ute over to Adam Rogash at MPW Performance & Race Fab to help sort the speedo. On the drive home, he found the ute got a bit hot under the collar in Dandenong traffic, so that’s one issue we know needs to be addressed.

Enjoy the latest episode below, and get ready to see Grimace rip in the PSR 8.5 Radial class at Drag Challenge in future episodes of Carnage.
