In this week’s episode of Carnage, we’re taking a break from our VS ute Drag Challenge build series as Scotty goes racing in our 1UZ-swapped Toyota Lexcen wagon.

Last time we had the Lexcen out at the drags was at Heathcote Park Raceway, where it ran a best of 10.68@133mph, making it Street Machine’s quickest street-registered car to date.

That was done on Nankang circuit tyres, as Scotty couldn’t get the 235 drag radials to fit at the last moment due to our lowered Shockworks suspension.

The necessary rectifications have since been made to get the proper racing rubber to fit, so this time we’re at Calder Park, where the car has previously run a best of 11.7.

With more R&D under the belt, Scotty was quietly confident of a much quicker pass. However, before he even got started, he got a warning about going quicker than 10.50. Given the car’s age and lack of rollcage, that’s the quickest that ANDRA rules allow us to run.

Scotty’s first pass on lower boost was an 11.25@134mph, with wheelspin on the launch. A 2.0-second 60-foot was never going to be enough for a proper ET, but the 134mph was the fastest this car has ever run.

The second run was much better: 10.56@134mph. An instant PB, and just slow enough to not have us booted out by officials – yet.

Master tuner Zane Heath from Maxx Performance was on hand, so he pulled a bit more boost out at the startline to reduce wheelspin and hopefully run quicker again.

So, did Scotty break the 10.50 barrier and get kicked out? You’ll have to watch the episode below to find out!
