EACH month, the guys and girls at Lloyds on the Gold Coast hold a Classic and Muscle auction and they always manage to find some really interesting stock to tease us all with. Here’s a few from this month that has us salivating.
Our favourite car of the auction is this FX Holden. The ute is powered by an Ecotec V6 stroked to 4.2-litres, with a custom intake, throttle body, fat turbo, intercooler and aftermarket ECU for good measure.
Behind the mill is a beefed TH700 auto and 9-inch diff. The owner claims an ET 11.2-seconds at 119mph, which sounds like a heap of fun to us!
In the market for an early 60s Holden, but finding the prices too hot? Why not consider one of the FB-EK Holden’s pommy cousins, namely at ’61 Vauxhall Cresta. Powered by a 2.6-litre straight six, the Cresta has plenty of rock and roll vibes and would make an excellent basis for a tasty custom.
Speaking of customs, this R-Series Valiant has plenty of mods, including panel paint, modified front sheetmetal, a late-model dash and a Hemi six transplant. All of which should conspire to keep the collectors away. It would make a great starting point for a gasser-style race car, don’t you reckon?
Still on the Valiants, this VG VIP is packing a worked 318 and 904 auto trans, a new paint job and 18in Boyd rims all ‘round. Well worth a closer inspection.
We love Ford Galaxies and this ’64 model would make a great starter for an NHRA AA/Stock or NASCAR-inspired project.
If you are keen to own a genuine Brock, but can’t afford a HDT Commodore, what about one of Peter Perfect’s EA Falcons?
How tough is this ‘58 Ford Cusso? Powered by a 521ci big block Ford and with fat rubber out the back, it sits just right. The undercarriage is fully detailed and has obviously been a lot of time and or money spent on this car. With the current focus on original muscle cars, a tough streeter like this might end up being good value.
Finally, how cool is this WB Kingswood ute? Running the classic combo for a 253 V8 and Aussie four-speed, it looks like a cracker! We even dig the bulbar.
