Over the 40 years we’ve been producing Australia’s horsepower bible, we’ve given away some ripping cars, but arguably the most famous of the lot is HQFORU.
In 1986, this Kevin Bartlett-built HQ Monaro was the magazine’s first giveaway car, and it’s been lovingly maintained by the current custodians, Rodney and Judith Menso, ever since they bought it back in 1996 (SM, Sep ’21).
HQFORU still causes a stir whenever a pic of it pops up on socials today, and we couldn’t think of a more iconic car to throw onto the cover of our mega 244-page 40th-anniversary September 2021 edition (which you can still buy here).
We commissioned our gun snapper Chris Thorogood to head up to Queensland to shoot the car, and Patrick Skinner from Ten Tenths Creative then restyled one of Tappy’s shots into the incredible artwork emblazoned on the cover. Now, we’ve immortalised it further in these new T-shirts!
We take immense pride in all the merchandise we produce, and these new shirts are no different. Made from high-quality AS Colour material and printed in Melbourne, they’re perfect for repping your love for the Street Machine brand this summer.
We’ve got adult sizes from small all the way up to 5XL, and kids shirts from sizes 2 through to 10, so there’s a fit for just about everyone!
While you’re in the shop, you can also look at all the other killer gear we have on offer – Drag Challenge shirts, hats, stickers, bottle openers and even jocks. It’s the perfect time to stock up for Christmas!
