“I have owned my 1976 Gen II Camaro since 2009, and it was already converted to right-hand drive when I bought it.

“It didn’t take long before I had the idea of turning it into a tough pro tourer, so I started a full rotisserie restoration in 2012, which involved replacing every nut and bolt.
“However, I didn’t touch the beautiful respray – Dodge Viper red with white stripes – as that was done just before I purchased the car.

“Inside, it has all-new leather interior by Evans Trim Shop in Toowoomba.
“The engine is a 462ci Dart small-block Chev built by Murphy’s Speed Shop, with a 9.5in deck, Lunati stroker crank, Ross pistons, BME alloy rods, a Comp Cams stick and AFR heads.

“It uses a 1000cfm carb and has 11.7:1 compression, and made 545rwhp on a chassis dyno on 98-octane.
“Behind the engine is an electronically controlled TCI 4L80E trans with a 5300rpm stall converter, and a Ford 9in diff with 4.11:1 gears and Strange high-torque 31-spline axles.

“The brakes are Wilwood ventilated discs all ’round, and the chassis has Detroit Speed tubular control arms and subframe connectors, and CalTracs traction bars.
“The American Racing 18×7 front and 20×10 rear wheels are wrapped in 215/40 and 305/30 rubber, respectively.

“My best time at the drags so far is 10.29; I can’t go any quicker than that without a rollcage. It’s one hell of a weekend cruiser!”
