“AFTER selling a ’78 XC Cobra coupe in the early 2000s, I was starting to itch for a new toy. In 2007 I found a green and beige ’66 Mustang coupe in Perth. The advert read okay and the local Mustang club arranged a couple of members to have a look and they gave it the thumbs-up.

While the colour combo was not ideal, it was a straight, rust-free car with a 347ci stroker and C6 auto. The deal was done and the car was trucked to Canberra.

The next 10 years have seen the car get a nine-inch diff, power steering, black interior and, of course, the satin silver paint with black accents.

It’s still an ongoing project. You never really finish old cars.”
