John & Debbie Bridge’s ’33 Ford coupe blends old-school soul with clever craftsmanship. Here’s what they have to say about their car.

First published in the September 2025 issue of Street Machine

“To make our ’33 Ford, we ordered a composite body from C&W Components and chopped it 5½in.

“The front of the body is channelled 1in at the firewall and is slightly kicked up at the rear with a custom curved spreader bar.

“It has laid-back A-pillars, a fully functional wind-out windscreen, and a steel cowl vent.

“I’ve had the vintage 427ci FE Ford engine sitting aside for some years, waiting for the right car to use it in – and this is that car!

“It has Edelbrock alloy heads, a Comp roller cam and lifters, a custom-grind crank, forged pistons and a 870cfm Holley.

“She shifts through a C4 auto, which sends the power back to a Winters V8 quick-change rear end. There’s drum brakes on all four corners, housed in 15in front and 16in rear 1940 Ford rims wrapped in Firestone bias-ply rubber.

“The exterior colour is a custom mix called Rona Blue, while the interior features a bench seat upholstered in brown stressed leather, a 1940-style steering wheel, and Stewart Warner curved gauges.

“The coupe has been finished and registered since 2022, and it won Top Hot Rod at the 2023 Street Rod Nationals. We love getting out on the road as much as possible.”
