Troy Peterson talks about his 1968 Chevrolet Camaro

“I BOUGHT my ’67 Camaro from Melbourne as a present for myself. The paint and panel had already been done, although the 454 was in unknown condition and the T400 trans was slipping in second gear.
As I am a mechanic it was the best starting point for me. I pulled the big-block to repair the leaking rear main seal, and one thing led to another. It now has an alloy-headed 30thou-over 454 pushing out over 450hp at the wheels.
The T400 got a thorough rebuild with plenty of tough bits as needed. I then pulled out the single-spinner 10-bolt rear and fitted a 12-bolt with Truetrac and 3.30 gears.
It’s a nice cruiser that has run a best of 11.98@118mph. I love cruising with my family and sharing the car with mates – even the occasional date night with my lovely wife!”
