Day One | Day Two | Day Three | Day Four
Day Zero
Wednesday 1 January
It’s that time of year again when all roads lead to Canberra, where we’ll get to let our hair down, grab a slushie and ring in the New Year at Australia’s greatest horsepower party, Street Machine Summernats 37!
Before we get to all that good stuff, though, entrants need to get scrutineered and stickered up for the weekend. Just like last year, the bulk of scrutineering has been moved to Wednesday 1 January at GIO
Stadium on Battye St in Bruce, just north of Canberra’s CBD.
Back at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC), entrants and their buddies can set up camp so they can wake up bright-eyed, bushy-tailed, and ready to party on day one!
Schedule:
8am-6pm: Scrutineering at GIO Stadium
9am-9pm: Entrant camping at EPIC
Day One
Thursday 2 January
Thursday is the new Friday at Summernats! What was once just a bump-in day has evolved into the essential opening act of Australia’s greatest car festival.
The day is headlined by the Pro Burnout Series Last Chance Wildcard Shootout at EPIC from 4pm, with over 30 cars duking it out in one last do-or-die effort to grab a spot in the Pro Burnout final on Saturday.
The Meguiar’s Great Uncover returns to Thursday night as well, with the sheets being pulled off 30 incredible cars from 7:30pm.
If that’s not your flavour, head into Canberra’s CBD from 5pm for the first of three nights of the Braddon Fringe Festival, where ’Nats entrants and their cars will exclusively pack the streets against a backdrop of live music, restaurants, bars and food trucks.
Qualifying for the Haltech Horsepower Heroes dyno comp kicks off from midday, as does the annual City Cruise, when a convoy of hot cars will parade through Canberra’s streets.
Those looking to send up some smoke signals can do just that when Skid Row opens at 2pm, and if you’re after some juicy merch and parts for your project, the trader stalls are open all day.

At the same time, the Open-class burnout qualifying kicks off. The big guns in the Pro Burnout Series will have their turn later on, with their quallies getting underway at 4pm. On the oval, there’ll be two Airtime FMX stunt displays at 11:30am and 3pm, and in between, you can check out all the freshly unveiled metal from the previous night’s Great Uncover in the Meguiar’s Top 60 Pavilion.
In the evening, some killer live music will cap the day off nicely, with Night Train, Thirsty Merc, Eskimo Joe and freaking JET hitting the main stage from 6pm. It’ll be a rock concert for the ages, and if you can’t tell, we’re more than just a little keen for it!

Day Four
Sunday 5 January
The last – but by no means the least – day of Summernats, Sunday is when we’ll get to crown the Street Machine Summernats 37 Grand Champion, witness even more burnouts, and close out one hell of a weekend.
Entrants who are up early enough can take on the Heads-Up Go-To-Whoa on the burnout pad from 9am. At the Meguiar’s Top 60 Pavilion, the Grand Champion combatants will gather at 9:30am for a parade out to the burnout pad, and their competition driving events will start at 11am, where they’ll take on the traditional motorkhana and go-to-whoa.
After the judges tally those points up, the ’Nats 37 Grand Champion will be crowned at 12:30pm, right before the Open-class burnout final at 1pm.
The pad then welcomes those who missed the cut for Saturday’s Pro Burnout Series final, with an Ultimate Redemption Round showdown giving them a chance at a spot in next year’s Summernats Pro Burnout qualifier.
