“I kicked off this 1974 LH Torana build in June 2023, stripping it right back to bare metal at home.

“I handled all the bodywork and rust repairs myself, taking the panels back to clean steel before even thinking about paint.

“While I was working on the body, the 308 went off to Geoff at Kendrick Automotives. We built a mild street motor with a 600 Holley, Edelbrock manifold, reconditioned heads with L34-spec valves, and a Crow Cams bumpstick for a bit of extra bite.

“The paint story is a bit of a saga. I first sprayed it Alpine White, but the colour and a few body spots didn’t sit right. So, I took it to a friend’s panel shop, Pilbara Panel & Paint; I reworked all the panels myself in their shop, and then they laid down a new coat of paint in Lamborghini Arancio Ymir.

“LH blackouts and guard stripes finish it off, giving it that classic-but-aggressive look. It still runs the Aussie four-speed and banjo diff, with a 90-litre drop tank I scored from a parts car.

“The original Chamois interior that came with the car was in surprisingly good shape, so I just did a few minor repairs.

“The car is sitting on CTM Muscle Custom Pro II wheels with 225/50R15 rear and 195/50R15 front tyres.

“The build isn’t finished yet, but it’s getting close. The car is going to Perth next month to have engineering completed and then for rego inspection.”
