The final leg to Drag Week for the POR440 Valiant and Dorothy the Dodge D200

Arby battles storms, hellish traffic and towing dramas en route to Hot Rod Drag Week 2018

The drive from Lexington to Atlanta was a busy one for Mark Arblaster in Dorothy the Dodge as he tows his POR440 Valiant to Drag Week. After driving through the remnants of Tropical Storm Gordon, Arby had some more issues with the car dolly and almost lost a tyre when it began rubbing against a guard.

Atlanta has a reputation for bad traffic, and it turned on quite the show for Arby as he picked up his mate Nigel from the airport. All up, the 1969 Dodge, towing a load that includes a Valiant, three LS motors and three transmissions, must have spent three hours navigating hellish traffic – and yet survived! Unfortunately, he arrived at Atlanta Dragway only for the rain to spoil his evening before getting a run in.

Tomorrow, the car will cop a spanner check and go through its NHRA tech inspection. See you then!
