ONE of the real heroes of the Mopar set in Queensland is Greg Emberley and his ’66 Dodge Coronet. The car was previously run under the Rumble Bee moniker by Street Machine’s own Mark Arblaster, but Greg has well and truly made a name for himself and got the car hauling stupid fast. And what makes it really spectacular is that he does it all on a leaf-sprung rear end, with 315 Pro radials. Check out the in-car footage from Mopar Sunday to see just what a spectacular ride it is!

The beast runs a 500ci big-block sporting Indy heads, a 94mm cast Precision turbo and C&S carb, backed by a Rossler Powerglide and Dana 60 with 3.54 gears. Fuel is methanol.

Coronet -2Greg and his crew made some changes on the day to fine-tune the Coronet for the eighth-mile Kenda Radial Series, running a PB 4.78@155mph for the eighth. An early-’chutes 7.45@161mph is the best for the full quarter, getting off the gas early at his year’s Mopar Sunday. In fact, the car has run as quick as 190mph in the past! What’s more, the Dodge took out the 2016 Kenda 660 Kombat series, which is a competition for radial cars over the eighth mile held at Willowbank.
