LAST episode, we told the story of how we bought a AU XR6 Falcon and a VT Calais V8 from the auction house GraysOnline for a song.

We assembled two teams, with Scotty and Kian claiming the Falcon and Bubba Medlyn and Kain Goodliffe taking the Commodore. We ran the cars in bog-stock from at Calder Park to establish a baseline – though Scotty may have done some sneaky mods to get the jump on Team VT. You can check that all out here.

In this instalment, the modifications begin! With a budget of just $2000 per car, the teams are going to have to get creative! Scotty is talking turbo, intercooler, E85 fuel system and a Barra computer for the AU, while Bubba is going old-school with a Barry Grant carby and a whole mess of nitrous oxide.

We’ll have the next episode up in two weeks, where we will see how these big beasts go on the dyno.
