BURNOUTS are fun, but it’s not a cheap sport, something that Steve Loader, the owner and driver of UCSMOKE, is very aware of. Over the years he’s broken just about everything there is to break in a car; this time it was the tailshaft during Tread Cemetery at Lardner Park on the weekend.
When it comes to high-horsepower cars though, nothing dies alone. Once the tailshaft let go it managed to destroy the transmission – which caused a small fire – and damage the exhaust and floorpan as well.
Thankfully nobody was injured, which goes to show that while burnouts might feature some of the craziest high-horsepower machinery around, the sport does have a great safety record.
Watch the video, listen to that blown and injected big-block sing and stay tuned for the carnage at the end.
