World’s first 11-second Ranger Raptor

The Maxx Performance Ranger Raptor cracks into the 11s, and on the standard driveline!

The days of high riding utes being a wheezing, asthmatic annoyance on our roads are long gone. The performance of these things have come leaps and bounds in the last 10 or so years, and the Maxx Performance Ranger Raptor is at the height of that.

Purchased brand new as a test mule, Maxx Performance and their head man and tuner Zane Heath have been hounding the twin-turbo V6 Raptor since day dot in pursuit of more performance. Being a workshop that specialises in high performance Fords, Zane and his crew wanted to be at the forefront of the new Raptor platform.

They’ve now got to the point of being the first Ranger Raptor in the world to crack into the 11s, doing so at Melbourne’s Calder Park Raceway with an 11.94@113mph, cracking the 0-100km/h time in just 3.9 seconds!

The most surprising part of the whole package is not the outright performance, but what is – or rather, isn’t – required to get it. The V6 petrol engine, turbochargers, driveline and majority of the car remain unchanged. Process West have jumped onboard with Maxx for parts development, so the Raptor features their new Stage 2 intercooler and piping, airbox and transmission cooler.

Maxx fitted an exhaust made in-house that uses a three inch dump and four inch system, while fuel is only beefed up with a bigger DI fuel pump, E50 blend and Zane re-tunes a F150 PCM. The injectors are still standard. All in that makes the package good for 410rwkW in 2H, and it has done a best of 3.7 in the 0-100km/h dash.

The only other significant change is ditching the factory Raptor all terrain wheels and tyres for a set of 20 inch Everest alloy wheels, as the Kumho K02 A/T rubber wasn’t deemed safe enough at the peak speeds seen on the drag strip. All the offroad-specific Raptor suspension is unchanged.

So, if you’ve got a new Raptor and want some extra stonk whilst still keeping all the factory luxuries and offroad capability, get in touch with the crew at Maxx Performance.
