Repco and ShowTime have pulled the covers off one of this year’s most radical custom car builds at Mount Panorama today, as part of the build-up to the Repco Bathurst 1000. The retailer joined brand ambassador Gary Reid from entertainment group ShowTime for the official unveiling of the ShowTime Repco-Mod 933, a 1200-horsepower monster based on a 996 Porsche Turbo.
Street Machine readers will remember Gary’s reinvention of the Howard Astill-built SM 1963 Compact Fairlane giveaway car, done in collaboration with Aaron and Peter Fitzpatrick and Gary’s wild, pro touring C10 pickup.
“I’ve always been a Porsche fan, and I love big-horsepower V8s, so the plan was simple: put a twin-turbo LS 427 in the front of a 911 Porsche, build a one-off wide-body kit, take inspiration from builds all over the world, and the result is this: the 933 Twin Turbo,” said Reid.

Street Machine scribe Iain Kelly has been following the build closely and is massively impressed by what he has seen:
“This thing is built to wow the crowds at the Supercars and other events. It is one of the wildest street machine-type builds I’ve ever seen. It combines proper race car engineering, street car serviceability and genuine elite-level detail. The whole thing is packed with tech and the craftsmanship is next level! the ‘cage, the floors, the widebody kit, the rear hatch and more was all hand-made.”

The result is a one-off body with an integrated frame and race-car front end that uses more than 280 separately fabricated parts and laser-cut highlights, along with a carbon-fibre roof, bonnet and doors. A literal truckload of genuine Porsche Cup parts were also at the team’s diposal.
The handmade aluminium wide-body kit features a shark fin between the roof and the extreme rear wing and required an almost uncountable number of 3D-printed templates. Late-model Porsche headlights and tail lights are fitted, along with STEDI auxiliary lights at the front.

Leading the charge on the fabrication side was Aaron Gregory — winner of Street Machine of the Year in 2020 in his ’51 Chev ute. Aaron’s other creations include the now—Will Brown owned TANTRM Ford Escort, Daniel Wickman’s XW Falcon, Sam Minter’s ’50 Chev and Gary Reid’s ShowTime C10 pro tourer. Plus Henry Parry’s SMOTY-winning FB that he was a big part of alongside Laurie Starling at the Chop Shop.
Repco-Mod 933 is finished in Sandy Taupe, a paint shade taken from Toyota’s LandCruiser range, with red, black and blue highlights applied to components including the turbocharger intakes, brakes, wheels and roll cage.

Inside, a pair of custom carbon Recaro seats are trimmed in Porsche’s Pepita fabric. A Supercars-inspired MPI steering wheel controls the front wheels, while two carbon levers—the sequential shifter and hydraulic rear handbrake—control the rear wheels in concert with the custom pedal box. Car Builders sound-deadening and heat-proofing materials are used throughout the cabin.

Under—and poking through—the front bonnet is a heavily worked LSX V8 engine built by Hi-Torque Performance with twin Turbosmart turbochargers delivering serious boost, running E85 and controlled by a Haltech R5 VCU, linked to twin Haltech uC-10 digital dashes. There is a full exhaust system, with bonnet-venting exists that open on a throttle switch.

An eight-speed ZF 8HP ex-Bentley gearbox with sequential shifting delivers more than 1200 horsepower to the fabricated motorsport rear end.
Custom Rotiform wheels in 18 x 9.5 and 18 x 10 are wrapped in Dunlop tyres.
Repco hosted today’s unveiling at the Mount Panorama circuit ahead of this year’s Repco Bathurst 1000, joining Reid’s extreme car build to reflect the passion its own team has for dream cars. The company has some serious heritage in the fields of racing and car building. Think about the Repco-Brabaham, the Recpo Hi-Power crossflow head for the Holden grey motor, the Repco Engine Development Company’s work on the Torana L34 engine, Repco’s Formula 5000 motors, the Repco Round-Australia Trials and the Gary Myers’s Repco XACUTER coupe, amongst many others.
The ShowTime Repco-Mod 933—with the ‘33’ taken from ShowTime’s traditional racing number—will soon begin work in the team’s stunt fleet, with appearances already scheduled at some of Australia’s biggest forthcoming car-culture events.
