Founded by the late Mark Stewart of PANIC altered fame, Warwick Dragway’s Six Banger Nats has long been one of our favourite niche drag racing events.
We’ve always had a blast any time we’ve attended and we sometimes come away surprised that the event doesn’t attract the number of interstate entrants it deserves, given the popularity of six-cylinder propulsion in our sport. Photos by Jacko
This year, the Goleby’s Parts crew – long time proponents of Toyota six pots – got behind the event as the naming rights sponsors. They and their mates also brought some barnstorming cars to compete, including Scott Hoffman’s spectacular Corolla. Fingers crossed we see more Barra, RB, V6 and old-school sixes out to play next year.
And as ever, it was great to see PANIC out on show and also to see Lyn Stewart racing her mighty Holden-six powered Gemini.
It was also cool to see our mate Trevor Owen take out Fast Street in his LC Torana, while his mate Milton Styler won the Grand Champion gong in his VG Val. The lads have been racing buddies since the Surfers Paradise days!
