IT has been a monster few weeks for Drag Racing down under, but we couldn’t miss one of the best little events in the country – Warwick Dragway’s Six Banger Nats.

Founded by the late Mark Stewart and his wife Lyn, Mark’s passion for hot sixes runs all through the event, with his son Norm and a dedicated crew of mates working hard each year to bring Mark’s famed PANIC altered out to thrill the fans. Norm took out the Best Wheelstand award, proving he is a real chip off the old block!

And Mark’s wife Lyn took out the Grand Champion perpetual trophy in her Holden-six powered Gemini wagon, thanks to Aussie Desert Cooler. And Lyn nailed the Fast Street class win too!

David Hayley had a mishap in his blown and injected Holden-powered dragster, but won Best Appearing Car.

Jason Bowers won Best Burnout in his blown and injected NO SHOW Torana.

Tim Morton’ twin-charged Toyota 2JZ-powered Torana took out the Blown/Turbo class.

Runner-up in Blown/Turbo was Wayne Stevens in his blown Dirty Harry FX Holden. He also won Longest Distance Travelled, all the way from South Australia.

Bob Sinclair took out the Dragster/Altered class and Kerry Digney’s Commentator’s Pick award.

Runner-up on Dragster/Altered was Lucas Holz in the V6-powered Takes Time.

Angela Holz has won a fair stack of trpohies over the years at the Six Bangers and this year took out Classic Pre ’64.

Michael Taylor was runner-up in his FJ Holden ute.

Jarrod Franz took out Street Class in his VK Commodore.

Runner-up in Street Class was Stuart Tolhurst in his UC Torana.

Peter Grant’s grey-powered HAMBster won the Stick Shift class.

The runner-up spot in Stick Shift went to another Holden grey-powered HAMBster, driven by Jackson Endacott.

Runner-up in Fast class was Phil Benger in his crazy little Hemi six-powered Mitsubishi ute!

And finally, the hard luck award went to John Palfryman in his Datto 1200 coupe. The scene in the pits was pretty cool and it was neat to see Michael Stevenson’s custom EK again.

Mark Reik and his turbo grey-powered FX ute ran a string of 7.90s over the Warwick eighth-mile.

Charlie’s blown LC Torana ran a best of 7.33-seconds, with plenty of room for improvement. Can’t wait to see this thing in action at Drag Challenge!
