THE good people at Shannons are having their annual Melbourne Autumn Classic Auction on Monday 30 April, and there’s heaps of killer Aussie and American muscle up for grabs. Here are a few cars that took our interest.

Aussie Mopar fans will like this VH E55 Charger 770SE – these are a rare combo, with the luxury look and feel matched with the performance-orientated Chrysler 340ci V8 and 727 Torqueflite. Just 125 were built and they’re becoming a highly collectible and sought-after Aussie Mopar classic. This Limelight green example presents really well and is expected to fetch north of $100,000.

This FJ Holden is a rocker from way back! Modified in the early 2000s, it’s kitted out with a 3.8-litre Holden V6 and four-speed auto, a custom bone leather interior. It’s expected to go for between $20,000 and $30,000.

Here’s another cool modified old Holden – this time an HX Sandman panel van with custom wizard and dragon murals on the sides and tailgate. Inside she’s fitted with custom blue VT Commodore seats up front and matching carpeting out the back, along with a big stereo system. Under the bonnet is an injected Holden 5.0-litre V8. The guiding range is $20,000-$30,000.

This HDT VC Brock Commodore is a real tempter! Finished in the classic white with red interior, the car has recently had its manual gearbox reconditioned, a new clutch installed, the steering rebuilt and a new master cylinder fitted. The guiding range for this one is $44,000-$50,000.

It may not look like much, but this HQ Monaro is set to rake in some serious dollars. We’ll refrain from calling it a barn find, but this GTS 350 Monaro has been parked since 1986 and is the most highly desirable model of all HQs. Originally owned by a country Holden dealer, the car is complete and intact and would make a solid starting point for a restoration. It’s expected to go for between $110,000 and $130,000.

The car of the auction is this 1970 Plymouth Road Runner Superbird 426 Hemi. For those that know Mopar collectibles, it doesn’t get much better than this. This matching-numbers car has the original 426 Hemi motor and 727 Torqueflite gearbox and has undergone a museum-quality restoration in the USA. Just 135 Hemi Superbirds were built, and only a four-speed manual car would be more collectible than this. It’s expected to go for well over $500,000.

This XY Falcon 500 base model caught our attention, as it’s in 100 per cent original condition with one-family ownership since new. It has travelled less than 2000 miles over the past 18 years and is expected to sell for around $30,000.
