THERE are plenty of good things about my job, but one of the best perks of the gig is telling someone they’ve won a killer muscle car! Yesterday, it was my duty to call Street Machine subscriber Patrice Andriske and tell her that she’d won the Street Machine/Unique Cars LX Torana hatchback. I had a little bit of trouble getting onto her, as Patrice and her husband Joe were on their way to the State of Origin to see Queensland defeat the Blues. Again.

Still, we got through in the end and after establishing that I was serious, the pair were understandably overjoyed at the news. “My heart is beating like crazy, that is incredible!,” said Patrice. “It is the best news ever!”

Not only did Joe recently miss out on nabbing an LX hatch that he had his eye on, but it turns out the Joe was getting around in an hatch when the couple first met, all those years ago! “I don’t enter competitions very often,” Patrice told us the next day. “But I buy the Street Machine subscription as a birthday present for one of our sons-in-law and the Torana caught my eye.”

Patrice and Joe run a mechanical workshop and engineering business, so it sounds like the car is going to a good home. We’ve got some final fettling to do on the LX and then it will make its way from Melbourne up to its new home. Congratulations guys and thanks to everyone who entered.
