“This is my 1981 XD Falcon GL, which was originally a six-banger ex-cop car from Dalby. I purchased it as a father-son project when I was 12 years old.

“I’ve had three different engine combos over the years, the first being a 347ci Windsor we slotted in that went into the 11.3s at the track. But naturally, that wasn’t enough, so we bought a 383ci Clevo that made over 600hp.

“That engine went into the 10.4s – quick enough to make it rollcage time. So, the chassis is now fitted with a six-point rollcage, and race seats to match.

“The 383 was not going to cut it anymore, so it now runs a 440ci TOCA Performance Clevor making 830hp on pump fuel.

“On its first outing, it went 9.90@140mph with a 1.6sec 60ft.

“Unfortunately, on the second pass, the transmission said no more, so we’ll sort that and then head back to the track to hunt for a deep 9sec PB.”
