Stephen Tunny
Holden LH Torana

“I’ve owned my Torana since 2012. It’s been a work-in-progress over the past 12 years, and it’s finally close to being where I want it to be.

“I have stayed with the good old Aussie iron lion 355 stroker, but to get some extra power, it now has a 2300 Harrop supercharger. The VN cast block houses a Harrop 355 stroker crank, Scat forged H-beam rods, SRP forged pistons and a Camtech hydraulic-roller cam. It still runs cast VN ported heads. So far, it’s made 666rwhp on a safe tune, and there’s still more in it.

“A TH400 with a reverse-pattern TCI valvebody sends the power down a custom lightened 3½in tailshaft to a custom Strange Pro Iron 9in diff with a billet full spool and 35-spline billet axles.

“I have taken it to Summernats twice and will be there again next year. I’ve been waiting to get back out to Willowbank with the new tune, but it previously ran some good numbers there, with encouraging mph.

“It drives better than they did back in the day and has been very reliable; we have it out most weekends for cruising, lap days at Queensland Raceway, drag racing or just car meets with mates.”

Jarrod Grundy
1963 Volkswagen Beetle

“Here is my 1963 Beetle. It was used on the show scene back in the early 1990s in Tasmania. I was lucky enough to pick it up from the previous owner, who’d had it in storage for over 23 years.

“I’ve been told it runs a 1760cc dual-port mill with a stroker crank, Holden rods, VW pistons, a mild cam and Holley carb.

“The interior door panels are polished stainless steel, while the exterior paint is two-tone black and silver with a blue stripe. The wheels were made by Andy Morris.

“My plan is to bring the car back to its former glory, drive it, and display it at shows once again.”

Anthony Stout
WB Holden ute

“My 1983 WB ute is currently running a 202 with a 350 Holley. She’s still regoed and driving fine, but I have a massive mod pack on its way and am saving money to build the car into what I want it to be.

“She’s got plenty of rust you can’t see and plenty of leaks you can, but she’s my daily driver whenever I’m home from FIFO for a week. I drive it to the Classic Cars & Coffee events here in Perth and take it on Sunday cruises along the coast.

“The boys and I have plans to convert her to an HQ with an LS3, along with a sequential gearbox for those green-light take-offs. As well as the powertrain upgrades, there will also be a new paintjob, plenty of body and panel work, custom interior, and a dashboard with some modern features.”
