Jay Wells
Holden HK Kingswood

“I thought I would share my HK Kingswood shed build, which hasn’t left the shed since I pulled it off the road to get the full monty. That includes an LS3, a Paul Rogers-built Powerglide and an Altra 9 9in diff.

“More goodies include the full Motor Fab suspension catalogue, and we’re using Haltech’s Rebel LS VCU and iC-7 dash.

“Originally, we were going for the shaved engine bay while keeping the patina on the outside, but the end game now is looking like a full resto.

“Before we do that, it’ll go to Rockynats next year as a runner, and then it’ll come back off the road for a motor rebuild and Harrop blower, as the rest of the driveline is already rated for 1000hp.

“That’s when we’ll redo the interior and exterior at the same time, so she’ll be a brand-new machine by the time we’re done!

“People can follow the build progress on my Instagram @khk_186.”

Jake Starcic
Holden VL Berlina

“This is my 1988 VL Berlina, which I’ve been building over the past three years into a 7sec street-and-strip car.

“The key to it all is a Warspeed Industries-built 388ci LSX with a Garrett GTX55 98mm turbo, fed by a pair of KillaBoost four-into-one manifolds.

“Other cool parts include a Shaun’s Custom Alloy intake manifold and Speedflow lightweight fuel lines front to back.

“The transmission is a two-speed Powerglide from M&M Transmission in the USA, and it sends power to a 9in diff set-up done by Matt at Pro Street Industries.

“It has Weld V-Series front-runners and Weld AlumaStar 15×10 double-beadlock rears, as well as a rollcage so we’re safe to shoot for sevens with no hassles.

“The car was tuned by Kon at Wollongong Automotive Services, making 1400hp at the wheels on a moderate 20psi of boost.

“It’s been a blast building this car, and we can’t wait to get it down the track and run that 7sec pass we are looking for!”

Corey Hunter
Holden VK Calais

“I am a 19-year-old doing a full nut-and-bolt rebuild on this VK Calais.

“I’ve been working on it from around September 2023 with my old man, all done on a dirt-floor shed until we recently moved – now I have the luxury of concrete!

“With help from my father, I’ve learned to do bodywork and paint the car myself so far.

“Along with the body and paint, we’re doing a full front-end rebuild and upgrading the diff as well.

“It’s still got a long way to go, but it’s been heaps of fun so far, and I can’t wait to get it on the road.”

Kai Ng
1978 Ford F100

“I’ve owned my 1978 Ford F100 since around May last year, and I’ve been slowly chipping away at it to get it ready for club plates.

“I hate the 1978 front grille, so one of the first mods I did was put an earlier 1973-75 face on it.

“The previous owner had already started the process of rubbing back the yellow paint, which is on top of white and green paint.

“Luckily for me, I’m chasing a patina look, so I’m going to return the whole truck to white and work in some natural patina along the way. Building a car without having to worry about perfect paint is so much more fun.

“It has a 351 Cleveland in it right now, and that’ll stay unless it blows up – if so, it’ll likely get an LS.

“She will start with a notch and I-beam drop in static form, and the end goal is for it to run a four-link rear and IFS with airbags to make it a cool, low cruiser.”
