If Peter Tsekenis’s ANMLXY isn’t the quickest all-motor, street-driven Falcon in Australia, it’s certainly up there. Having lapped the quarter in 8.44 seconds without any form of artificial aspiration, it’s a certified rocket.

This 462ci Clevor is the engine that powers the car, and it makes a monumental 1060hp – insane territory for a street-driven small-block. “Is it a street engine?” poses BK Race Engines frontman Bill Kaglatzis. “Not really, but we’re trying!”

After two years of racing, and with Street Machine Drag Challenge on Peter’s radar, the call was made to put the engine through its paces on the street to see how it would fare, then yank it out for a freshen-up.
“The customer insisted on doing some street driving – you’ll never find out if it can cope with that until you try,” says Bill. “Initially I told him to have a tow truck on standby, and if he heard the slightest tick, shut it down straight away and don’t even think about driving it home! But eventually we got a bit of confidence in it and ended up driving it all the way to Cootamundra – 480km non-stop. All in all, we did 3000-odd kays on the street, then opened it up and had a look.”




The valvetrain held up remarkably well, with over an inch of valve lift and 1070lb of spring pressure on the seat, but Bill has now sourced a set of 1.8:1 rockers (as opposed to the 2.0:1s the car runs in race trim) and softer springs for street use. The one main issue they came across during street testing was higher oil temperatures than they would have liked, prompting the switch to a dry-sump system before the engine goes back in the car.
So, how does one go about making over 1000hp with a small-block Ford? Bill started with a Dart 9.5-inch Windsor block, to which he added a Callies 4.250-inch crank, Oliver rods and Diamond pistons for 462ci and a lofty 15.5:1 compression ratio, necessitating E85 on the street and VP Racing C85 at the track.

The camshaft is a 55mm Bullet item, acting on .905in BAM steel-bushed lifters and Smith Brothers pushrods with DLC tips. T&D steel rockers are used, and with the aforementioned 2.0:1 race-ratio rockers installed, there’s a massive 1.045in of valve lift.
The heads are CID SC2s with 2.300in inlet and 1.650in exhaust valves, and they flow an impressive 500cfm. These are topped with a CID intake manifold and a billet APD carby, which has had considerable R&D invested into it by the BK Race Engines crew.

“There aren’t a lot of people out there running these kinds of engines on E85, so we worked closely with APD on the carby,” says Bill. “We used this engine as a mule, and we probably did 35 passes across five or six meetings just testing different boosters to give us the optimal fuel curve. Now we can sell these carbies with confidence through RaceMAX, knowing we had a hand in developing them.




“When you’re driving an engine like this on the street, you’re asking a lot of it, but we’ve learned what it likes and what it doesn’t. The whole Drag Challenge thing is a box we’d like to tick with this car, and that’s what we’re working towards.”
