“I’d been looking for something to fit a Barra in, but I’m not a massive fan of the XD-XF or E-series Falcons, so when this Series II VP Executive came up, away we went.
“I bought it off a young lad who got it out of Roma with just over 80,000km. It’s in really good shape and rust-free.

“I did the conversion myself at home in the shed, using Rod Shop engine mounts and transmission crossmember and a Muscle Garage sway-bar.
“I fitted the BF Barra with a set of Spool I-beam rods, BF Turbo pistons, a 10mm girdle, head studs, and Crow valve springs. The turbo is a compact Proboost G42 with the smaller compressor housing, as it was a better fit in the engine bay.

“I’m still running the BF computer using a Hooton’s harness, tuned by Forced Performance & Tuning in Toowoomba using PMCTec software. Behind the engine is a built reverse-pattern TH400, rated to 1500hp.
“The diff is a BorgWarner with 31-spline axles, Truetrac centre and 3.23 gears, built by my mate Ken Madden. The intercooler piping was done by ARE Cooling and the exhaust is by Fat Pipes. The car is good for 784hp at the hubs at 23psi.

“The VP runs 235/60R15 rubber on widened steelies for maximum stealthiness, and I’ve already surprised a few at the track.
“I live around the corner from Lakeside Park Raceway, so I’m around there all the time doing roll racing at social days and the like. I’m doing my first standing-start drag racing out there soon.”
