“I was looking for a donor car for my Charger a couple of years back on Facebook Marketplace and came across this 1973 VJ Valiant Regal.

“She was in a bit of disrepair and had a seized motor. When I started to pull it apart, I noticed there was more to it than first met the eye.

“There were bullet holes in the floor and lower rear guard, and mounts for a CB radio and a gun rack. I did a bit of research and found it to be an ex-police car from NSW.

“So, I decided not to cut it up but instead build a wicked car out of it.

“I’ve put together a 265 Hemi with a street-spec camshaft, along with a few extra goodies. It has a three-speed manual on the floor with a fancy Speco shifter, and a good ol’ SureGrip LSD in the rear.

“The aim is to have something that turns heads and can blow the socks off a Commodore or Falcon.

“I’ve been trying to keep its worn-out look though (to trick the competition once she’s on the road), but I will hint at its performance by making it a subtle Pacer mock-up, with big twin pipes out the rear, nice chrome five-slot rims, and fat tyres with white letters.

“It’ll also get a Charger grille and spotties, and I’ll complete the look with the original number plates and a Pacer body-stripe kit.”
