Who can enter YSMOTY?

Young Street Machine of the Year is open to anyone under 24 (as at 31 December 2025), and unlike Street Machine of the Year proper, there is no requirement to have had a feature in the mag.

Any genre of car is fair game – drift cars, mini-trucks, burnout cars, Time Attack weapons, JDM hotties, customs, hot rods, 4x4s, restos and street machines are all welcome.

In fact, our first winner was Max Edwards’s twin-turbo, VIP-style Toyota Majesta, followed by Grant Azzopardi’s Barra-powered Ford Anglia. Who can say what this year will bring!

What can you win?

This year, we will award an overall winner and two runners-up, with a total prize pool of $9000!

The overall winner will receive a $3000 cash prize, plus a $1000 Hare & Forbes voucher and a $200 Street Machine merch voucher. Second place will nab $2000 cash, a $500 Hare & Forbes voucher and a $150 Street Machine merch voucher. Third place will win $1500 cash, a $500 Hare & Forbes voucher and a $150 Street Machine merch voucher.

Hot tips!

When you enter, make sure you tell us all about the car and what you’ve done with it. Any back-story, info on mods or repairs you’ve done, and sharing what the car means to you will all help your case! Don’t worry if you’re not a great wordsmith – bullet points are fine. Same goes for your photos; you don’t need a fancy camera, but make a bit of extra effort to put the car against a plain background in even light. Lastly, make some noise on the socials of your choice using the #ysmoty hashtag.

Our vision is that the Hare & Forbes Machineryhouse Young Street Machine of the Year competition will appeal to the widest possible group of young people and help ensure a healthy future for our sport for decades to come.
