Day two of Street Machine Summernats 37 was one for the ages! The Pro Burnout qualifying showdown was intense, the action on the dyno was thrilling and the Fringe Festival in Braddon was a vibe. Add in drifting, cruising, skid row and a massive concert and we had a day where it was literally impossible to take it all in its entirety.

Luckily, we film as much of the action as possible! Check out the video below, as well as a selection of our favourite cars below that.

Josh Smith has come all from Tasmania with his bad-ass VH Commodore. The beast is powered by a 850hp 358ci Dodge R6 P8 NASCAR mill, backed by a ‘glide and a sheetmetal 9in. Josh is making the most of his time at Summernats, competing in everything from the dyno to the open burnout comp. She’s a very tidy car too, with a particularly stunning interior.

Shepparton is well represented with toughies this year, including this stunning XA GT mock up, shown here with owner Louie and his son Marco. The Falcon is powered by a 6/71-blown, 427ci Windsor.

Jarman Impey and his mates have rebuilt Jarman’s late father’s HQ Monaro with stunning results. The HQ is powered by a 427ci small block Chev and is dubbed JRZGTS. Jarman is a first grade AFL player, representing Hawthorn.

Phil Smith and his son Jaxon are having a ball in Phil’s genuine SL/R Torana. The car is now powered by a 632ci big block Chev, making 1220hp on E85. Backing the BBC is a glide, with 315 radials out back.

Anthony Matijasevic’s silver HT Premier is a stunner. She’s running a 380ci Dart-based SBC, with twin 750 carbs siting on a sheet metal manifold.

Bobby Wells – pictured here with sons Jamie and Blaze- is a Summernats regular. His VB is powered by an 800hp RB30, backed by a Powerglide and BW rear. The VB is a nine-second street car and placed 4th in the six-pot burnout ranks at Summerats 28.
